Challenges and opportunities in last mile logistics

Sci+Tech in the City invites you to attend a four-hour workshop on Last Mile Logistics which has been crafted to inform and inspire professionals in transport, logistics, marketing and digitally-enabled commerce, as well as students and researchers in cyberphysical technologies, data analytics, AI and optimisation.

The last mile is a metaphor used to describe the movement of goods from a fulfilment centre to their final destination. In other words, the last mile is the last leg of your product's trip before it arrives on your customer's doorstep.” – propress.com

The workshop is co-hosted by:

  • Sci+Tech in the City

  • Georgia Institute of Technology (USA)

  • Supply Chain and Logistics Association of Australia (SCLAA)

  • Australian Society for Operations Research (ASOR)

  • CSIRO Data61

Hugh Donald Ratliff from Georgia Tech (USA) will open the workshop with a 90 minute tutorial designed to thoroughly explore fundamental aspects of Last Mile Logistics from both practitioner and innovator points of view. Don Ratliff is presently the Executive Director of the Georgia Tech Panama Logistics Innovation and Research Center, and a Partner at Supply Chain Ventures, LLC. He is a supply chain and logistics expert with more than 40 years of experience as an educator, researcher, consultant, and technology business executive.

The second half of the workshop will comprise short presentations, panel discussions and structured audience participation involving thought leaders, experts, practitioners, and entrepreneurs with diverse perspectives on meeting the challenges of last mile logistics.
